Delicately scented with both light citrus and floral notes and yet still showing an attractive chalky/smoky mineral quality. A little disappointing on the palate – more dilute than I expected. But it’s not expensive. (JH)

The 2014 Bourgogne Cuvée Oligocène has a light nose of grass clippings and apple peel: crisp and taut. The palate has green apples on the entry, quite Zen-like with a faint marine influence that lends it a Muscadet-like personality. Enjoy this over the next couple of years.

Smoky, correct, just a little low key on the nose. Very sweet start but good structure underneath. Lots to chew on. Big and bold with an almost Mâconnais ripe apple-ness. (JR)
