Tasting Notes
The 2009 Bonnes-Mares comes across as rather understated at this stage. The 2009 is a sleek, pliant Bonnes-Mares that isn’t ready to show all of its cards just yet. Today the 2009 is surprisingly approachable, but my impression is that it will flesh out considerably with time in the cellar. A recent bottle of the 2002 was still quite primary, so when that might happen is anyone’s guess, but my sense is that patience will be rewarded. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2039. About the producer

Domaine d’Auvenay is part of the Leroy empire (along with Domaine Leroy and Maison Leroy). It is named after Lalou Bize-Leroy’s home, an old hunting lodge outside Saint-Romain in the hills above Auxey-Duresses, which she shared with her husband Marcel until he passed away in 2004.
