Bright, pale yellow. Nose currently a bit blocked by sulfur. Quite closed on the palate, with stone fruit and menthol flavors showing less depth and early sweetness than the Montée de Tonnerre. A bit less fine-grained too. This is tricky to taste now and needs time in bottle to expand.

The 2013 Chablis Grand Cru Blanchots is much more reserved on the nose, biding its time, not wishing to make a grand entrance like some of the more expressive premier crus at this stage. The palate is fresh and crisp, again with impressive salinity and hints of ginger lending spiciness on the back palate. It does not quite deliver grand cru weight and penetration on the finish, mainly due to the vintage, but it does linger incredibly long afterward.

Rich and explosive in the glass, the 2013 Chablis Blanchot races across the palate with gorgeous richness and pure intensity. White and yellow peach, spice, jasmine and lemon oil are some of the many notes that flesh out in this utterly captivating and expressive Chablis from Raveneau.

(picked on the Sunday after the rain, according to Bernard Raveneau): Very closed nose hints at white pepper, fresh herbs and cedar. Then fresh and fairly large-scaled in the mouth, offering a firm edge and a touch of youthful bitterness to the peachy fruit. Just a tad dry on the finish, which boasts enticing sweetness but could use a bit more grip.
