Tasted at the Comte Liger-Belair vertical at the Château de Vosne. The 2013 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Chaumes has an outgoing and floral bouquet armed with wilted rose petals infusing the brambly red berry fruit. There is just a hint of fresh mint that emerges with time. The palate is medium-bodied with a little chewiness on the entry, sappy black and red fruit struck through with fine acidity and plenty of spice toward the finish. I would just like to see it develop more tension with bottle age. Tasted June 2015.

The 2013 Vosne-Romanée Les Chaumes boasts gorgeous intensity and saline-infused drive. The flavors are bright and focused throughout, a combination of the late cool harvest and a dollop of whole clusters. The bracing, cool finish is incredibly inviting.
Good dark red. Aromas of black raspberry and dark chocolate are lifted by pungent minerality, licorice and a note of violet; classic Vosne-Romanée scents. A step up in intensity from the village wines, with ripe black cherry and dark berry aromas given lift and cut by healthy tangy acidity. Liger-Belair's vines are situated in the upper part of Chaumes, where there's some limestone to go with the clay.
Just one big barrel. Bright crimson. Lots of guts and charming fruit – very vivacious. Lots of pure redcurrant fruit. Cool and fresh. Far from fat! Clean and zesty. Great texture. (JR)
