Tasted blind at the annual “Burgfest” tasting in Bouilland. The 2013 Meursault 1er Cru Poruzots has a refined bouquet with apple blossom, citrus peel and oyster shell aromas, nicely defined with well integrated oak. The palate is well balanced with bitter lemon and orange zest on the entry. This feels tight, linear, tightly wound, a Meursault unwilling to give much away at the moment. This is one for the patient because there is quality evident here. Tasted May 2016.

Heathy pale yellow. Musky aromas of honey and menthol, with primary fruits in the background. Rich and fat for the year but with very good acidity and saline soil tones giving shape to this ripe, extract-rich Meursault. "Density and power--and good ripeness--keep wines going for a long time, more than acidity," Jobard asserted. Plenty of finishing thrust here.

The 2013 Meursault Poruzots 1er Cru is blessed with a very mineral-driven nose–this is stone not fruit, one extremely well defined and focused. The palate is fresh and poised on the entry with a surfeit of saline citrus fruit and a finish that is quite estuarine, reminiscent of a wild roiling sea. Long and sustained, this is a wonderful contribution to the vintage from Antoine Jobard.
