(aged for 16 months in new and used French oak hogsheads): Inky ruby. An exotically perfumed bouquet evokes fresh blackcurrant, cherry compote and pipe tobacco, with smoke and vanilla nuances adding complexity. Sappy and expansive on the palate, with vibrant dark fruit and floral pastille flavors showing liqueur-like depth and surprising vivacity. The gently tannic finish displays excellent focus, repeating spiciness and strong cling.
