Tasting notes
Tasted at the Comte Liger-Belair vertical at the Château de Vosne. The 2013 Nuits Saint-Georges Aux Lavières has a gorgeous bouquet that sprints straight out of the traps: ebullient red cherries and raspberry fruit bounding about! The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins that gently grip. There is a pleasing sappiness here with briary and dark plum on the linear finish. This is a classy Nuits Saint Georges that surpasses my expectations from barrel. Tasted June 2015.

The 2013 Nuits Saint Georges Aux Lavieres has a very pure bouquet with crème de cassis and iodine scents that are beautifully entwined with the new oak. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins. It feels quite compact at the moment and just missing that peacock’s tail on the finish. Conservative, but nicely crafted. Just one barrel produced.
Just one barrel in 2013. Bright crimson. Slightly reduced but very pure and sumptuous and with lots of freshness and precision. Just a bit of tightness on the end. Sappy but not that long. (JR)
The 2013 Nuits Saint Georges Les Lavières is pretty and lifted in the glass, even though it was vinified with fully destemmed fruit. Crushed flowers, mint, rose petals, savory herbs and mint are nicely layered throughout. A weightless, airy finish adds to the wine's considerable appeal. 89-92
