The 1979 Musigny Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru does not come from a particularly noble period for the domaine. It has a briny nose that is missing some complexity and the pedigree one expects from this Grand Cru. That said, I find the palate more detailed than expected, with attractive black truffle scents interlacing the black fruit. It does not kick on toward the finish, but it will just about do. Drink soon.
