Score 93/100 · Jim Murray, Whisky Bible

Refill sherry hogshead, cask 1993. Nose: curiously coastal – akin to the old Hoggies I used to sample at Bunna in the early ’80s. Fabulous saltiness to the old Dundee cake… a slight dollop of heather honey for good measure. Taste: that honey shows early, as does the salt. But still more than enough salivating sultanas in its train… Finish: a little drier, especially with the oak making a vanilla-rich stand. And furrier. Late malt offers a grassy alternative to the grape. Balance: G is for juicy… F is for fruity… 56.4%
