Score 94/100 · Jim Murray, Whisky Bible

Batch 1 Oloroso sherry hogshead, cask no. 7301, dist 03 Sept 75. Nose: entirely in tact: the dry, sophisticated grape remains firm and allows only limited passages of oak to intervene. Very gentle. Taste: good sugar presence to cap that inherent dryness. The fruits are simple, clean, occasionally salivating and rarely make any effort to steer away from a grape effect. Finish: remains dry but spices now buzz in to elongate the finale. Balance: a classy, understated little malt, one that does all it can to pass under the radar. Sorry - but you've been outed! Also, at its best after being allowed to breathe in glass for a good half hour. 40.7%.
