Score 90/100 · Drink 2006-2013, Robert Parker, Oct 2006

The chunky, opulent 2003 Shiraz McRae Wood is not terribly complicated, but it offers a deep ruby/purple color, oodles of fruit, and notes of espresso, white chocolate, pepper, licorice, black cherries, and plums. Enjoy it over the next 5-7 years. Importer: Negociants USA, Napa, CA; tel. (707) 259-0993

Deep, violet-tinged ruby. Ripe dark berry and cassis aromas, with a strong overlay of exotic, toasty oak. Sweet and fat on the palate, showing flavors of ripe blackberry, raspberry preserves, vanilla and cinnamon toast. Finishes wonderfully lush and sweet but vibrant, with fully absorbed tannins. The obvious oak treatment seems only to have enhanced the hugely expressive, sweet berry qualities of this wine.
