Tasting notes
Dark ruby. Ripe dark berries, violet and licorice on the pungent, smoky nose. Full and expansive on the palate, displaying blackberry and blueberry preserve flavors and a touch of prune. Shows the ripeness of the vintage to full effect but there's surprising vivacity here as well. The finish clings with very good tenacity, repeating the floral and licorice notes. I find this hefty wine quite approachable, and I slightly underestimated it from barrel.

Deep ruby. Blackcurrant and cherry aromas are complemented by dried violet, smoke and a hint of botanical herbs. Full-bodied dark fruit flavors show serious ripeness but also possess good energy, thanks to tangy acidity. The smooth, smoky finish leaves notes of licorice and smoky herbs behind. This wine is made from a vineyard in Chassis, in the southern part of the appellation.
Almost black in colour. Dark savoury flavours and huge burly tannins – like a great big bear hug. Very very very peppery. Practically tap dancing with all that pepper. Graphite and quite mineral, definitely not about the fruit, but long and delicious. (TC)
