An absolute stunner, the 2009 Aglianico del Vulture Il Sigillo is a massive wine with enormous beauty locked within. It opens to a dark, impenetrable appearance and segues to opulent tones of dark fruit, spice, grilled herb and crushed stone. The bouquet is seamless and boasts enormous depth and personality. The mouthfeel is giant, especially in terms of its textural richness that is expressed in term of tannic structure, richness of fruit and acidic freshness. Il Sigillo also benefits from the passing of time and now, many years after the vintage, the wine is absolutely at the beginning of a very promising and rewarding evolution.
