Score 86/100 · Neal Martin

The 2014 Couhins-Lurton has a ripe and quite generous bouquet with blackberry, red plum and a touch of Hoi Sin sauce, quite forthright for the vintage and maybe missing a little nuance. The palate is medium-bodied with firm, dry tannin, very foursquare in the mouth and missing some freshness and flesh on the finish. This year, I prefer its white counterpart.
