The 2014 Petit-Village has a well-composed bouquet with pretty iris flowers infusing the red fruit. It's vivacious and focused. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and well-judged acidity. It's energetic with a bright, focused, peppery finish. It just misses some sustain on the aftertaste. It's better than previous bottles, though not within the Pomerol top tier. Tasted blind at the Southwold 10-Year-On tasting.

AXA-owned at the time. Tasted blind. Bricky rim. Developed aromas of undergrowth and dried fruits. Sweet senescence. Tannins still quite chewy and lacks generosity of fruit at the core so the tannins finish dry. (JH)

The 2014 Petit Village is demonstrating a lot of vanillary oak on the nose that will need to be absorbed with bottle age. The palate is medium-bodied with chewy tannins, a little rustic in style and it feels blunt and rather abrupt on the finish. I just find this a bit hard going. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting.

Tasted blind. Very sweet, winning nose. Big and bold with massive tannic grip on the palate. Ambitious and chewy. (JR)
