A touch more depth to the nose here. And in the mouth some proper Graves character with a touch of mocha. Long and complete. The finish persists with some very attractive barrel gloss. Good. Joss Fowler, FINE+RARE, April 2015.

The 2014 La Chapelle de la Mission Haut-Brion was shockingly good at the blind tasting six years ago. Here, it has a simple nose with red berry fruit, rose petals and dried prune. Missing a bit of freshness and class. The palate is medium-bodied with a muted opening. There's something just a bit forced about this Pessac-Léognan; consequently, the finish is missing some complexity and personality. Tasted blind at the Southwold 10-Year-On tasting.

Tasted blind. Mid garnet. Ripe, tangy, evolved dark-red fruits. Juicy at the core, surrounded by firm but smooth tannins. Cabernet character showing very well. (JH)

The 2014 La Chapelle de la Mission offers light brambly red berry fruit on the nose mixed with cedar and bay leaf notes. The palate is well balanced with a fine line of acidity, plenty of pretty red fruit, light on its toes and yet delivering a satisfying and persistent finish that draws you back for the next sip. This has clearly improved since I tasted it just after bottling. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting.
