The 2014 Rauzan Gassies is a good all-around effort. Smoke, tobacco, licorice and game are some of the nuances that take shape in the glass. Although a bit rustic today, the 2014 is certainly not lacking personality. Wild, gamey notes add complexity to the firm, burly finish. It will be interesting to see if the 2014 softens. It is certainly intriguing, but might turn out to be even better than this note suggests.
The 2014 Rauzan-Gassies has a light grassy bouquet, plenty of undergrowth aromas as usual, though missing the fruite of its peers. The palate is medium-bodied with chewy tannin on the entry, a little angular in the mouth with some hardness on the finish. It is a frustrating wine, grasping for quality but not quite getting there. Tasted twice with consistent notes. Mar 2017, www.robertparker.com
About the producer

The Quié family purchased Pauillac Fifth Growth Ch. Croizet-Bages in 1942, adding Rauzan-Gassies four years later. Once part of the same estate as the neighbouring Rauzan-Ségla, this Margaux property was split off in time for the 1855 Classification, earning Second Growth status.
