The 2014 Château Clos de Sarpe shows the more classic, medium-bodied style of the vintage nicely and is going to benefit from bottle age. Cooler notes of black fruits, graphite, gravelly earth, and a touch of violets all emerge from the glass, and it's nicely concentrated, has silky tannins, and a great finish. It's a beautiful, elegant, classic Saint-Emilion. Give bottles 4-6 years and it will evolve gracefully for over 20 years.

The 2014 Clos de Sarpe is deep garnet-purple in color with a lovely cassis and warm black cherries nose with suggestions of cedar chest, tobacco, tapenade and bay leaves plus a waft of potpourri. Full-bodied, it delivers wonderfully pure red and black fruits with a solid line of fine-grained tannins and beautiful freshness, finishing long and earthy. Only 7,000 bottles were produced.
