Tasting notes
73% Zinfandel, 17% Carignan, 9% Petite Sirah and 1% Mataro. From a Coravin Vinitas sample that was prepared more than 12 months earlier. Mushroom, leather, liquorice, dried cranberry and cherries – what a wine. It is in a perfect zone of fruit generosity with mature, savoury notes. Tremendous. Long, lingering finish. Always such a reliable buy, offering the terroir complexity equalling the likes of bordeaux plus the fruit pleasure of California. (RH)

A blend of 73% Zinfandel, 17% Carignan, 9% Petite Sirah and 1% Mataro. Dark ruby. Aromas of lavender, roasted fig, blackberries and a hint of citrus peel. Fantastic acidity makes flavours of blackberries, figs, cola, a salty meatiness and dried herbs wonderfully mouth-watering. Faint dusty tannins linger with citrus peel and dried herbs in the finish. Really delicious. The wine unfolds on the palate with a deliberateness that is quite compelling. (AY)
73% Zinfandel, 17% Carignan, 9% Petite Sirah, 1% Mataro. Succulent plum fruits and spiced tree barks on the nose are accented by a bit of cracked pepper. These carry into the mouth with impressive concentration, and loads of mouth-watering presence. There is plenty of intensity here with finesse. Lovely. Will do well with a few more years in bottle before opening. (ECB)
Made from 73% Zinfandel, 17% Carignan, 9% Petite Sirah and a splash of Mourvèdre, the 2013 Geyserville Proprietary Red Wine is a sexy, voluptuous, concentrated and hedonistic beauty that offers tons of plum, licorice, roasted herbs and leather like aromas and flavors. One of the more ripe and decadent wines in the lineup, it has the mid-palate depth and concentration to evolve for 15+ years.
