Tasting notes
The 2011 Barbaresco Maria Adelaide is a superb expression of Nebbiolo from one of the most talented winemaking families in Barbaresco. It presents a thick array of aromas that range from dark fruit and plum to spice, leather and toasted almond. The wine never feels heavy or over extracted. Indeed, the palate offers great coherency, elegance and grace. Barbaresco Maria Adelaide is aged in French barrique for 12 months and sees an additional 12 months in large oak casks. The 2011 vintage should age for another five years before you serve it.

Blood orange, exotic spices, mint and bright red stone fruits are some of the many notes that emerge from Rocca's 2011 Barbaresco Maria Adelaide. Sensual, ripe and voluptuous, the 2011 Maria Adelaide captures the essence of the Bruno Rocca house style. The 2011 spent 18 months in French oak barrels, 70% new, which is very much felt. Fans of the Maria Adelaide should take note that there is no 2012, but there will be a 2013.
