Tasting notes
The 2014 Brauneberger Juffer Sonnenuhr Riesling Spätlese displays a very fine yet deep and flinty bouquet with bright and intense fruit aromas. It's picked later and made from pink grapes, which gives a slightly darker color. On the palate this is a highly noble, intense and elegant Spätlese with a rather creamy texture and a lingering salinity from the slate soils. I thought that must be a wine for the auction, but indeed it is the regular one. A Must Buy!

Quite tense and sleek on the nose. Exuberantly ripe and pure. Much, much richer than the Kabinett. One for traditionalists. Beautifully sculpted. Very precise. Clean with a strong citrus-peel element. (JR)
Despite its distinctive aromas of peaches and yellow fruit, the fragrance of this Spätlese is tastefully seductive rather than overwhelming. On the palate the Brauneberger takes on a more exotic expression with sweet notes of grapefruit and orange. The acidity is à point , a gentle zesty dash of citrus peel and slightly dusty tang provide a fascinating and long finish. (MS)
