The 2010 Bolgheri Superiore Grattamacco shows a sharpened sense of focus and clarity. The blend is Cabernet Sauvignon (65%) with Merlot and Sangiovese and the wine delivers its aromas with lift and purpose. A pretty spot of acidity helps to define the deep concentration and sheer power of this opulent red. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024. Aug 2013, www.robertparker.com

Grattamacco

Grattamacco’s story begins when Piermario Meletti Cavallari purchased an abandoned vineyard in 1977 and grafted over many of the vines. He produced one of the earliest Super Tuscans in 1982 – a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Sangiovese and a wine which continues to earn acclaim today.
