Cherry red, with some density to the core. Very smoky nose, but more from sulphides (like struck-match burgundy) than oak. This gives the palate a real lift, and there's lovely red fruit there behind the smoky veil. I just hope that eventually this character relaxes into the wine, as it sits rather obviously on top at present. (AH)

The 2010 Brunello di Montalcino is absolutely gorgeous. Freshly cut flowers, herbs, mint, cinnamon and sweet raspberries grace the palate in an especially refined, silky Brunello that speaks to finesse above all else. The 2010 should continue to drink well for another decade or so. This is one of the freshest, most sensual, fruit-driven Brunellos readers will find in 2010. At the same time, though, in a vintage like 2010, I would have thought Talenti could have delivered a more important Brunello. (AG)
Talenti's 2010 Brunello di Montalcino sees fruit sourced from the Sant'Angelo in Colle subzone of the appellation. This is a very satisfactory expression with pretty mineral tones of ash and crushed stone that form sharp contours against ripe fruit, prune and blackberry. The wine is linear and extremely well defined. The high quality of fruit happily comes through with confidence and intensity. Talenti offers the best of both worlds: This is a wine that can age or you can opt to drink it sooner with red meat or game dishes. I love the energy and acidity on the finish.
Deep ruby with orange tinges. Tight nose hinting at cherry and orange skin and herbs. Youthful sweet fruit underpinned with equal doses of firm tannins and juicy acidity. Already approachable. (WS)
