La Morra. Deep ruby with narrow orange tinge. Cherry and black tea leaves and notes of horse saddle, but not too overpowering. Succulent cherry-fruit palate. Popular but cleverly made and with contrasting acidity and tannic grip. (WS)

A beautifully balanced, refined 2010 Barolo with integrated tannins, a medium to full body and a savory finish. Better after 2015 but already delicious. Apr 2014, JamesSuckling.com

The 2010 Barolo Rocche dell’Annunziata is simply gorgeous and one of the best wines ever produced by Andrea Oberto. You’ll notice that the wine now carries the full name of the vineyard cru, Rocche dell’Annunziata. In years past, this wine was the boldest in this producer’s portfolio and that fact certainly has not changed in the delicious 2010 vintage. Behind the brawn is elegance, finesse and impressive complexity. Dried cherry, cola, licorice and balsam herb give the bouquet an ever-changing quality that keeps you on your toes. Alcoholic power, acidity and structure drive the wine over the palate. Drink: 2017-2033. Jun 2014, www.robertparker.com
