(aged in one-third new oak): Vivid yellow. Sharply focused aromas of fresh pear and lemon curd take on powerful honey and anise accents in the glass. Silky and seamless on the palate, offering weighty orchard and pit fruit flavors energized by juicy acidity and a potent mineral note. Shows very impressive power and intensity on the penetrating finish, which leaves behind notes of bitter pear skin and honeysuckle.

Roussanne on granite. Pungent, tense and really trying hard. St-Joseph definitely needs more precise sub-appellations! Barrique ageing still evident. (JR)
