Score 92/100 · Drink 2016-2032, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Oct 2015

Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2012 tasting in Beaune. The 2012 Meursault 1er Cru Genevrières has an accomplished bouquet with subtle notes of lemon thyme, linden and chalk dust that unfurls nicely in the glass. The palate is fresh and taut on the entry, quite pointed acidity, vibrant and nervous with a mineral-rich finish that bodes well for the future. This is a very well crafted Meursault Genevrières, though it is not at the same quality level as Dominique's Charmes in 2012.

Pale yellow. Orange, lime oil and spices on the nose. Densely packed and utterly seamless, with an impression of baby fat leavened by strong underlying energy. Complex flavors of orange, minerals, crushed stone and spices. Today the Poruzots shows more power but this will be the superior wine in five years.

25 hl/ha – typical for 2012. Cool and green on the nose. Hint of something like coffee grounds on the finish. Firmer than usual. Still very chewy. (JR)

Bright yellow-green. Aromas of lime oil and smoky oak suggest a very concentrated wine. Then sweet, sappy and chewy on the palate, with enticing minerality framing and intensifying the flavors of soft citrus fruits, clove and smoke. Finishes vibrant, tactile and long, with lovely lingering perfume and a light touch. (The Poruzots and Goutte d'Or still had too much malic acidity remaining to assess with confidence.)
