Tasting notes
There is an enthralling sappy richness to the floral and blackberry-scented 2000 Musigny. Supremely elegant, it is not quite as dense as the 2001 yet reveals outstanding depth, purity, and concentration. Lush, stony red and black fruits are interspersed with violets and tangy raspberries in its exceptionally long, expressive, plump character. Anticipated maturity: 2004-2012.

The 2000 vintage is yet another success story at Domaine du Comte Georges de Vogue. After having performed an evasivage (the removal of excess buds after flowering), the Vogue team still believed they had too much fruit on the vines and dropped half of the bunches prior to veraison as they did in 2001. In the end, they harvested a moderate 30 hectoliters per hectares in a vintage where their neighbors set records. According to Millet, the fact that the yields were kept under control also served to ensure a “very healthy” harvest. Jun 2003, www.robertparker.com, Drink: 2004-2012

Light and almost varietal Pinot compared with the run of Romanée-St-Vivants I have just been tasting - very charming indeed! Light and delicate but so sweet and delightful. Lovely ripe cherry flavours. Oodles of flattery. What great burgundy is all about! Oct 2010, www.jancisrobinson.com, Drink: 2007-2017
An extravagantly spicy and notably ripe yet very fresh nose offers up a very pretty mix of both red and black currant aromas that are beginning to display the initial hints of secondary development while being trimmed in discreet hints of wood and menthol. The beautifully elegant and gorgeously textured flavors exude a lovely minerality before culminating in a rich, round and utterly delicious finish that delivers excellent persistence. This is not especially big or dense as de Vogüé Musigny goes but is tautly muscular and defined. For my taste this has arrived at the very front end of its peak drinkability though I underscore that it should age gracefully for many years to come. Consistent notes. Full red-ruby. Dense, laid-back nose hints at cherry, raspberry, powdered stone, mint and flowers. Wonderfully sweet on entry, then supple and subtle in the middle, with excellent density. Finishes very long, with fairly strong but fine tannins and some noticeable oak. Mar 2002, www.vinous.com
