Released only late 2014. Very dark crimson. Spicy, rich nose. Quite youthful and very intense. Edge of bloody meaty savour. I think this is going to be a really lovely bottle. Very complete even if perhaps less ‘local’ than the 2010. Cool finish. (JR)

Very deep purple black in color, the 2012 Bin 150 Marananga Shiraz is profoundly scented of blackcurrant cordial, black forest cake and smoky bacon along with some earthiness. Medium-bodied and quite packed with flavor, it has medium to firm grainy tannins and shows a slight menthol lift in finish.

They’ve been making this for five years. Half new and old, half US and French oak. Very geographically specific though not Magill or single-vineyard reserves. Lots of Grange growers contribute. TA 6 g/l, pH 3.67. 14 months in 25% new French oak, 25% new American oak, 25% one-year-old French oak, 25% one-year-old American oak. Deep crimson. Rich start and glossy with just a hint of medicinal. Quite explosive. Just a bit dry on the end. But pretty impressive even if much stricter than, say, the Torbreck Marananga bottling! (JR)
