Tasting notes
The 2007 Barolo Acclivi strikes an attractive stylistic middle ground in this lineup of 2007 Baroli. It has some of the textural richness of Cannubi, but with the greater aromatic definition of the Monvigliero. Sweet dark cherries, flowers and mint wrap around the radiant finish. The mid-weight structure leads me to think this will be a relatively early-maturing wine, but that won't be an issue for a number of years. This is another gorgeous wine from Burlotto.

Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024. Burlotto continues to deliver the goods. In recent vintages, the wines have been especially strong. Importer: The Rare Wine Co., Sonoma, CA; tel. (707) 996-4484
Verduno. Medium ruby with broad rim. Minerally, earthy and a touch leathery, herbal, perhaps even farmyardy. Better focus on the palate with sweet, ripe fruit, but leathery note seems to have a grip on the finish. At least at this stage. (WS)
