Light bricky red. Fragrant and a little herbal and floral and forest-floor. Complex. Dry but moreish, more savoury on the palate than I expected from the aroma. Compact, paper-fine tannins. Juicy finish. (JH)

Crushed flowers, spices, orange peel, dried red cherries and mint are all laced together in the 2010 Barolo Monvigliero. Today, the 2010 is quite shut down, even if plenty of its distinctive floral and savory notes emerge over time. Firm tannins keep the fruit from showing all of its sweetness, but the 2010 is nevertheless quite beautiful, even at this early stage.
Verduno. Mature-looking ruby with broad orange-tinged rim. Firm, tannic cherry fruit with an almost salty finish. Great concentration without being overpowering. Really distinct. (WS)
