2013 La Croix de Beaucaillou

Tasting notes
The 2013 Croix du Beaucaillou is composed of 52% Cabernet Sauvignon and 48% Merlot. Surprisingly fruity, round and ripe, one could almost drink it now, which is not a bad thing in a vintage such as 2013. This lightly tannic, juicy, fruit-forward red can be enjoyed during its first 6-8 years of life. ||There is no doubting the remarkable effort Bruno Borie has made at this gorgeous estate that frequently behaves like a first-growth. In 2013, the harvest took place between September 26 and October 9, with less than 50% of the crop going into the grand vin. Wine Advocate.August, 2014

The 2013 La Croix de Beaucaillou has a really quite lovely nose even if you ignore that this is a second wine, so much so that you might not nail this as a 2013: ebullient red berry fruit with mint and cassis. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, just a touch of dryness towards the finish but otherwise a commendable Croix de Beaucaillou. Oct 2016, www.robertparker.com
