Score 88/100 · Drink 2015-2019, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Feb 2015

The 2012 Rosso di Montalcino is soft, silky and expressive. Floral notes meld into soft red fruit in a pretty, delicate Rosso to drink now and over the next few years. Overall, this is a relatively small-scaled Rosso from Valdicava.

Crushed flowers, sweet red cherries, spices, leather and tobacco all lift out from Valdicava's 2012 Rosso di Montalcino. Overall, the 2012 looks like it will be a mid-weight Rosso with only modest complexity and depth. I tasted the 2012 from tank, just before bottling.
