Score 92/100 · Drink 2016-2028, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, Jun 2016

Guido Porro's 2010 Barolo V. Lazzairasco shows a plump and juicy personality that is characteristic of Serralunga d'Alba. The wine exhibits depth and persistence with generous tones of barbecue smoke, spice and dark fruit. Tertiary aromas of tar and licorice give the wine an extra sense of kick and energy. If you enjoy a full and more generous style of Barolo, this wine is for you. There's a touch of tangy clove or toasted cardamom on the close.

Pale ruby. Sweet, high-toned. Actually rather gentler than most. A real charmer. Candied rose petals with so much fruit that the tannins are almost hidden. Dramatic and charming. 17.5/20 points (JR)

Aromatically beguiling and deceptively medium in body, the 2010 Barolo Vigna Lazzairasco is constantly changing in the glass. Dark cherry, plum, smoke, menthol, tobacco and licorice are some of the many notes that inform this dark, mysterious Barolo. Today, the 2010 remains firm, unyielding and classically austere in the best sense of the term. Readers who like traditionally made Barolo will adore the 2010. (AG)

Serralunga d’Alba. Developed-looking ruby with orange rim. Iron and graphite against a background of ripe fruit. Lovely depth on the palate with succulence and grip. Massive but beautifully sculpted tannins. Complex, concentrated finish and nothing big or rough. (WS)
