The 2008 Hunting Hill Chardonnay sports a small reduction on the nose, gradually opening to reveal light yellow flower and red apple scents. The palate is fresh and vibrant, hints of oyster shell complementing the citrus fruit with fine precision on a finish that you might argue deserves a better nose. Maybe one of the weaker Hunting Hill Chardonnays, although still thoroughly enjoyable. I would broach this over the next couple of years. Tasted at the Kumeu River Chardonnay vertical in London.
Light nose. Tight and fresh. Crunchy fruit. Not the delicacy of the Coddington 2008 but impressive nonetheless. Does not taste like a 10-year-old wine! (JR)
Seems a little sweet on the nose and then very dense and dry on the palate. Difficult to read at the moment. Obviously made in burgundian idiom but it seems to be in a lull currently. A puzzle! (JR)
