Tasting notes
Medium red. Aromas of raspberry, strawberry and spices suggest a softer wine than the Vosne Barreaux but seemed to shut down with air. Rather clenched on the palate and not showing the sweetness promised by the nose. A note of menthol in the mid-palate is joined by herbs and pepper on the tight back end. Tough going today and very hard to assess. I also picked up a green edge when I sampled this wine from barrel in November of 2013.

This is even spicier and a bit riper as well with its expressive nose of black cherry, cassis, earth and sandalwood scents. There is good volume and excellent underlying tension to the delicious middle weight flavors that possess a dusty mouth feel on the moderately long and complex finish. This is very good without being truly special. Tasted: Jan 15, 2014. Drink: 2022+
