Honey, almonds, mint, Chamomile and tangerine all meld together in the 2011 Chassagne-Montrachet La Grande Montagne. This is one of the richer, more viscous wines in the range. Today, the Grande Montagne has plenty of breadth and power, but a bit less in the way of finesse. It will be interesting to see if bottle age adds an element of refinement that could elevate the 2011. Still, this is a terrific showing.

Here too there is a deft touch of wood surrounding the exuberantly fresh and ripe aromas of peach, apricot, pear, white flowers and subtle wet stone scents. There is a really lovely texture to the extract-rich medium weight flavors that also possess a succulent, indeed even opulent mouth feel, all wrapped in a balanced and graceful finish. A full-bodied wine of finesse. Tasted: Jun 11, 2013. Drink: 2017+
