Medium red. Reticent aromas of red cherry, redcurrant and rust. Sweet and easygoing, showing moderate depth and spine to the redcurrant, licorice, spice and herb flavors. Comes across as less ripe and less structured than the old-vines Les Champ-Chenys. Finishes with a restrained sweetness and good persistence.

Deep ruby-red. Licorice and spice aromas complicated by sexy soil tones. Broad, saline and dry; less fruity and sweet than the Brunelle but showed a lively violet nuance as it opened in the glass. Nicely concentrated wine with a firm tannic spine to support mid-term aging.

A lightly toasted nose of fresh and notably ripe dark red berry liqueur aromas that display a top note of red currant is really quite pretty. There is impressive richness to the round and opulent middle weight flavors that possess fine volume on the slightly sweet finish where the toast character reappears. Tasted: Jan 15, 2014. Drink: 2018+
