Quite light and very sweet. Very round and sweet. Light and fresh. Pretty. (JR)
(from limestone-rich soil in a combe): Medium red. Enticing aromas and flavors of cherry and rose petal. Sweet on entry but youthfully reticent, with lovely underlying minerality and a serious tannic spine contributing to an impression of mid-palate detail. Totally different in texture and shape from the riper, easier Santenots.
Here the wood influence is much more discreet if not invisible as it does not impinge unduly upon the cool, pure and elegant red and dark berry fruit aromas that display an interesting hint of fennel. There is good energy and really lovely detail to the lightly mineral-inflected middle weight flavors that possess fine depth and length on the balanced finish. A classic Mitans of finesse and delicacy. Tasted: Apr 15, 2013. Drink: 2019+
About the producer

Nicolas Potel is one of Burgundy’s most talented and connected winemakers. He created Maison Roche de Bellene, the négoce arm of Domaine de Bellene, in 2008, using his extensive network in the region to source top-quality fruit for an "haute couture" négociant operation.
