Tasting notes
The 2010 Barolo Rocche di Castiglione offers a soft and richly textured expression from the Castiglione Falletto township. The wine shows few rough edges and instead offers an impressive level of integration and smoothness. Nebbiolo's characteristic tannins and its acidity are evident, yet those sharper qualities are folded within the general lushness and dark fruit of the wine. This Barolo is appropriate for medium and long-term drinking.

Castiglione Falletto. Mid ruby with orange rim. Open, lively sweet-sour nose with fruitcake notes. Supple fruit on the attack, then the acidity swiftly takes over. Tannic but with a long fruit finish. Mid term only? (WS)
Castiglione Falletto. Just mid ruby with bricky rim. Minerally, iron nose with a hint of shoe polish. Much more fruit driven on the palate, with dried-fruit notes, but could be a little more complex. Can be approached now. (WS)
