Tasting notes
Dark fruited and very pure on the nose. Lots of lovely sweet fruit character with a beautiful elegance of style. In the mouth this has depth and a chunky mouthfeel. Concentrated, very long and very impressive.

Dark red cherry, plum, smoke, tobacco and leather are some of the many notes that take shape in the glass in Einaudi's 2010 Barolo Terlo Vigna Costa Grimaldi. Explosive and full-bodied to the core, the 2010 is a huge, intense wine endowed with tons of richness and sheer concentration. The 2010 is going to require significant patience. Today it is a bit bombastic, but hopefully finesse will develop in bottle. In the face of a cold vintage, Einaudi decided to basically trim the bunches in half in order to give the fruit the best chance to ripen. The resulting wine is massive yet also impeccably balanced. Drink: 2020 - 2035
The 2010 Barolo Terlo Vigna Costa Grimaldi shows a tight and austere personality with defined aromas of bold cherry, blackberry, leather, cola and licorice. This single-vineyard selection sees 18 months in barrique with an additional 30 months in botte grande. That oak imprinting is definitely present but woven within the greater texture of the wine. Pretty nuances of wild cherry appear on the close adding a sense of freshness and brightness. Drink: 2016-2028. eRobertParker.com.July, 2014
