Tasting notes
The 2013 La Violette has an attractive nose with raspberry, truffle and light marmalade scents. This is quite attractive. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins. It's pretty sweet for the vintage with decent purity. The 2013 is grainy in texture with a dash of white pepper and clove on the finish. Fine. Tasted at Bordeaux Index's 10-Year On tasting.

Dark garnet. Some (not unattractive) leafiness on the nose. Mouth-filling fruit and no excess of acidity or tannin. Quite a success, though far from opulent on the end. (JR)
A edge of violet and mandarin peel against the raspberry fruit offers the promise of uplift and life. Tar and grilled oak fill out the mid palate, but the fresh acidities drop fast. This is a charming but not concentrated Pomerol, with an earthy finish.
Tasted blind. Deeply coloured. Sweeter on the nose than most, with oak sweetness. Perhaps slightly raisined? A bit stewed on the palate too. Though the tannins are rounded. (JH)
