Tasted blind. Complex aromas of citrus and a touch of vanilla. Hint of smoky reduction but also a touch acetic on the nose and the SO2 still seems to be felt (at least by my sinuses). Is it not the best bottle?  Creamy and rich fruited on the palate. Interesting. (JH)

The 2013 Carbonnieux has quite an upfront and "confident" nose within the context of the 2013 vintage, emboldened with upfront redcurrant and cranberry fruit mixed with damp soil/woodland aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with a crisp tannic backbone: just a touch of sour cherry intermingling with the black fruit with fine precision towards the poised and nicely detailed, almost gravelly finish. This is a very respectable Pessac-Léognan that should drink well over the next 10 years.

Cedary, leafy black fruit, even a touch of mint. Chalky and dry on the palate, desperately needs fruit in the middle. (JH)
