Tasting notes
The 2010 Barolo Tortoniano is aged in large oak cask for two years and shows an impressive level of fruit boldness and extraction. Although the style is plush and -modern- on the Barolo continuum, Tortoniano is a seamless expression with supple tannins and fresh acidity that meld into one beautiful whole. Drink: 2016-2025. Verduno, La Morra. Very pale and bricky. Quite opulent and ripe on the nose. Real depth. Almost a little popular. Great acidic spine and with quite a tannic finish, but backed up by plenty of proper Nebbiolo fruit. (WS)
Sweet red cherries, rose petals, spices, tobacco and anise meld together in the Michele Chiarlo's 2010 Barolo Tortoniano. This soft, mid-weight Barolo is an excellent choice for drinking over the next handful of years, before the fruit fades.
