Dark and brooding in the glass, the 2012 Chambolle-Musigny Les Fuées wraps around the palate with gorgeous depth. Blue and black-toned fruit, iron, graphite and violets are some of the many notes that inform an intense, full-bodied Chambolle that shows darker, more intense side of the year.
Here the expressive nose combines notes of red currant, black cherry, stone and once again soft floral nuances. There is a lilting mouth feel to the beautifully well-delineated middle weight flavors that ooze a fine minerality on the focused, intense and strikingly long finish. While this is very clearly a wine of refinement there is a controlled power that exudes vitality. Lovely stuff. Tasted: Jan 15, 2014. Drink: 2022+
