Tasted blind at Flint Wines’ 2007/2012 Nuits Saint-Georges tasting in London. The 2012 Nuits Saint-Georges 1er Cru les Saint-Georges from Thibault Liger-Belair has a very refined and detailed bouquet with cold stone scents filtering through the pure red berry fruit. There is wonderful terroir expression here. The palate is well balanced with quite a lot of extraction compared to other growers; deep and rounded strawberry and raspberry notes, slightly lower in acidity with plenty of fruité on the opulent finish. Damn delicious and seductive. Tasted November 2016.

Tasted blind. Mid blueish crimson. Putty and potential but nothing much actual on the nose. A hint of prunes and lovely ripe sweet fruit on the palate. Some real intensity. Lots of interest. Still lots of dry tannins on the end, but promising. (JR)

Tasted blind at the annual "Burgfest" tasting in Beaune. The 2012 Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru Les Saint Georges from Thibault Liger-Belair. Deep in color, it has a very perfumed, floral bouquet with black plum and blueberry fruit that is ripe and generous, whilst maintaining impressive delineation. The oak is present but nicely enmeshed here. The palate is medium-bodied with a sweet, creamy texture opening, quite lavish and sumptuous in the mouth, more opulent than expect though it masks the terroir somewhat. This is attractive but it needs to develop its intellectual side in bottle.

Bright red. Musky, soil-driven aromas and flavors of raspberry, dried flowers, leather and minerals. At once fine-grained and penetrating, conveying outstanding density without any impression of weight. This wine could hardly be more different than the musclebound Clos Vougeot. Spreads out and builds on the back end, with the full, ripe tannins totally buffered by the wine's sheer extract.
