Tasting notes
The 2002 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Sous Le Puits exhibits scents of citrus oil, iodine, petrol and wheat toast, followed by a medium to full-bodied, racy and incisive palate that's delicate and mineral. I suspect that this is another wine that was simply lost amidst the embarrassment of riches of this extensive tasting.

The 2002 Puligny-Montrachet Sous le Puits, a cru that debuted in 1991, presents a rich, generous bouquet of dried honey, peach skin and light flinty aromas. The palate has a lovely flow from the very start, offering a fine bead of acidity, a caressing texture, and tropical notes toward the finish, which retains admirable precision. Excellent.
Sourced from Didier Larue since 1991. High toned. Solid with lots of greenness running through it. Long with massive undertow. Very solid rather than ethereal. (JR)
Subdued, discreet aromas of peach, stone and licorice. Juicy, bright and firmly built, with precise flavors of apple, lime, minerals and crushed stone. This offers more energy in the mouth than the foregoing wines. Finishes with sneaky length. Has the structure and tightly coiled spring to reward six to eight years of aging.
