Tasting notes
An outstanding blend of 50% Pinot Gris, 30% Pinot Blanc and 20% Aligote that comes mostly from the Bien Nacido Vineyard and spent two years in new French oak, the 2010 Hildegard is a rich, medium-bodied white that offers up toasty, nutty aromas and flavors, tropical fruit and beautiful purity, balance and depth on the palate. A classy, slightly exotic effort that stays fresh and pure, it should continue to shine through 2017. Drink now-2017. Tel. (805) 963-7999; www.aubonclimat.com

The 2010 Hildegard is first and foremost a wine of texture. White peaches, pears, flowers and mint meld together effortlessly in this gracious blend of Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc and Aligote. Despite its softness, the fruit is nicely backed up by an attractive core of minerality that keeps the flavors bright and focused throughout.
