2010 Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru

Tasting notes
(made from the estate's younger Chambertin vines): Medium red. Musky red berries and flowers on the nose, with hints of menthol and herbs. Sweet, sappy and appealing, in a rather open style. Can't match the best 2010s here for precision and thrust, but this offers a lovely balance of fruit, acidity and suave tannins. Finishes with good energy and sneaky subtle persistence. Drink or hold.

(from the estate's young vines in Chambertin, now 16 or 17 years old): Good bright, deep red. Expressive aromas of cassis, licorice and smoky minerality. Silky-sweet in the mouth, with ripe acidity and a touch of pepper giving shape to the mid-palate. This attractive, juicy wine should be easy to drink in its youth.
