Score 89-92/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Mar 2006
(malo finished, not racked) Bright red-ruby. Rich aromas of black raspberry, cassis, minerals, licorice and smoky oak. Sweet, lush, complex and pure, with lovely integrated acidity and a minty nuance giving shape to the full dark fruit and mineral flavors. Powerful but not heavy. Finishes with a fine dusting of tannins and excellent length. My score may turn out to be conservative.
