Score 95/100 · Drink 2025-2036, Erin Larkin, Wine Advocate, Sep 2025

The 2001 Old Vine Grenache Blewitt Springs Vineyard leads with roasted meat and savory brown spices, and the wine in the mouth is lighter and more fragrant than I expected from the nose. This is all leather and autumn leaves, mahogany and dark chocolate, licorice and star anise. The length is lingering and elegant, and I find this to be a wine of two pats, the nose and the palate. Both are distinct and great. 14.5% alcohol, bottled in magnum, sealed under natural cork.
